BLACK& to Open a Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence in Moldova

Chișinău, 21 October 2026 — BLACK& today announced its intention to open the Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence in the Republic of Moldova, an initiative dedicated to applied research, training and the development of AI solutions. The Centre is currently in its preparatory phase and will be developed with the support of Super Intelligence Lab (SI Lab), BLACK&’s technology arm.

The Centre will bring together technology specialists, researchers, universities, entrepreneurs and organisations that want to integrate artificial intelligence into their work. Its purpose is to build local capacity to design, test and deploy AI systems that address concrete needs in Moldova’s economy and society.

For Moldova, these capabilities mean more than technological modernisation. They can raise productivity, create professional opportunities for specialists, and open access to markets where value is driven by intellectual property and innovation.

What the Centre will do

The Centre will focus on three areas:

• Applied research and product development. The Centre will identify concrete problems and build AI solutions validated in real-world conditions, in fields such as healthcare, education and business.
• Training and knowledge transfer. Programmes for specialists, managers and institutional teams, tailored to their responsibilities and level of experience.
• Responsible testing, evaluation and deployment. Measuring system performance, documenting limitations and defining human oversight mechanisms.

Planned project areas include intelligent document analysis, automation of administrative processes, adaptive educational tools and decision-support systems. Each project will start from a verifiable need and clear indicators: time saved, error reduction, operating costs or service quality.

Built in Moldova, with international ambition

The Centre aims to collaborate with academia, the private sector and international organisations to exchange expertise and develop joint projects.

A key priority is creating a framework in which specialists in Moldova and across the diaspora can contribute to products and research with international relevance.

In line with Moldova’s European path, the Centre’s approach places data protection, security, decision traceability and risk assessment at its core. Documented processes and independent verification of results are built in from the design stage.

Next steps

Over the coming months, BLACK& will define the Centre’s operating model, consult potential partners and select the first pilot projects. The launch timeline, governance structure, team and participation terms will be announced once this phase is complete.
